BIGBANG’s G-Dragon is set to make his comeback with a solo album in February, marking his first full-length solo album release in 13 years since ‘COUP D’ETAT’ in 2012.

Solo Album Comeback Scheduled for February 2025
According to Ten Asia on January 6, G-Dragon will release a new solo album in February. His previously released tracks in 2024, “POWER” on October 31 and “HOME SWEET HOME” featuring BIGBANG’s Taeyang and Daesung on November 22, will be included in the upcoming album.
A representative from Galaxy Corporation cautiously confirmed the February album release, “The company has plans in place, but nothing is finalized.” Despite initial reports in October 2024 that the comeback was uncertain, G-Dragon released ‘POWER’ on October 31.
Delayed Comeback Initially Expected in 2023?
Initially, G-Dragon’s album had been completed under YG and was scheduled for release in November 2023. However, on October 25, 2023, G-Dragon faced drug allegations, causing a shock in the Korean showbiz industry. The false accusations lasted for weeks, causing the BIGBANG leader distress, and the album release plan ended up being postponed.
This information aligns with the planned schedule introduced by YG and G-Dragon. Particularly, on January 1, 2023, G-Dragon and YG “unleashed” a video introducing the G-Division project, marking his comeback album after 5 years since the EP “Kwon Jiyong.”
After clearing his name, G-Dragon also announced his departure from YG, heading to his “new home” Galaxy Corp. The departure of the legendary artist who once boosted YG’s stock sent it plummeting. G-Dragon also personally prepared the album from scratch since leaving the old company.
Talks About New Album & BIGBANG in Elle Magazine Interview
On June 25, 2024, fashion magazine Elle published the full interview it had with G-Dragon, where he revealed various tidbits about himself and upcoming future plans.
In particular, G-Dragon mentions his perspective regarding creating, saying, “Whenever I do something, I have a desire to challenge something new and unfamiliar rather than something old-fashioned, both as a creator and as a human being. The fields are also diverse. Music is my specialty, but other than that, I believe in being willing to borrow the expertise of others. When you do that, not only does the level itself increase, but people also seem to accept the results more easily.”
Then, when asked what he’d like to receive in a gift box from the sky, G-Dragon answered “the finished album” without hesitation, revealing that he never gave up on album work despite various rumors and speculations.
Regarding the process of his new album, G-Dragon said, “If last year I could give an answer that was more of an exclamation mark when it came to working on the album, now it’s more of a question mark. It went from ‘I can do it! I can do it!’ to ‘Jiyong, can you do it?’ I feel like right now it’s definitely an uphill climb, but the important thing is that ‘the path always works’.”
Afterwards, G-Dragon talks about his group, BIGBANG, saying, “Our members? Ah, now there are three of us”, adding, “We don’t talk about the current scene among ourselves. Of course, we talk about topics that sound natural or are at the center of the topic.”
